Details

The Food Chain provides nutrition services including home delivered meals, essential groceries and nutrition advice to men, women and children who are chronically sick as a result of HIV related illness. They aim to ensure that no one living with the virus has their ability to get well and stay well adversely affected by lack of access to appropriate food. All their services are provided with the help and support of nearly a thousand volunteers and funded via public donations.

Set in the attractive, Inigo Jones-designed church (c.1633) which backs out onto Covent Garden’s market and piazza, St Paul’s (more commonly known as The Actor’s Church) forms an atmospheric setting for a series of festive concerts and services up to Christmas.

Traditional carols for all to sing, with some more unusual carols from St. Paul’s choir. As well as Carol’s there are always thoughtful and entertaining readings, sometimes given by well known patrons of the Food Chain. The Carol Service is FREE, but there will be a retiring collection whose proceeds go directly to the Food Chain.

With usual pzazz, the Rev. Simon Grigg injects customary humour and before sending us on our way with a blessing and invitation to stay for a glass of wine and Konditor & Cook mince pie – in between, there are classic Christmas carols, entertaining readings and a few words from the Food Chain.
