Teynham to Faversham Walk

This is a flat walk through “The Fruit Bowl of England”. – orchards of apples, pears, plums, strawberries and raspberries. The area used to be a large exporter of timber. grain and oysters. We follow The Saxon Shore Way along the River Swale, a tidal channel between mainland Kent and the Isle of Sheppey and then along some creeks, salt marshes and fishing boats on one side and the stark but beautiful landscape of dykes, fertile meadows and windswept grazing marshes. This is an unspoilt haven for walkers and wildlife. We finish in Faversham’s bustling streets past the historic market-place. Suggested lunch stop at The Three Mariners, Oare nr Faversham. Expect four and half hours of walking time.
