We follow the South Downs Way along ridges of chalk grassland with panoramic views in all directions keeping in sight of Lewes Castle almost throughout. The walk starts in the historic town of Lewes then quickly rises to follow the ridge of the South Downs Way. Lunch in the picturesque village of Rodmell, with particular fame for being home to the writer Virginia Woolf. Lunch at the Abergavenny Arms. Our return to Lewes along the River Ouse. Expect four and three-quarter hours of walking time.

Walking is always a great day, out exploring in the fresh countryside air, it can be the prefect tonic away from the mental clutter from everyday London life. It’s a full day out, but it should blow away all your cobwebs …
