The VITO Project is teaming up with AIDS Memory UK, StopAids, Youth Stop AIDS, GMFA, NAM/Aidsmap and Sophia Forum to present a special screening of “1985”, a 2018 award-winning US film directed by Yen Tan.
Set in Texas in the year of the title, the film tells the story of a closeted gay man who returns home from New York City to tell his family that he is dying of AIDS.
This screening is courtesy of Peccadillo Pictures and will be followed by an open discussion with Ben Collins from the VITO Project, Ash Kotak, curator of AIDS Memory UK, Georgie Wallis, HIV activist and campaigner with Youth Stop Aids, Tom Hayes, advocate and editor at beyondpositive & Susan Cole, from NAM aidsmap and trustee of the Sophia Forum.
