Over the past few months, we submitted FOI Requests to six London Boroughs to try and assess the home-testing service provided by Sexual Health London.

According to SHL’s website, they claim their service “provides free and easy access to sexual health testing via the internet and local venues”.

The service provides testing for a range of sexually transmitted infections including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

Some boroughs do not to participate in SHL. These are Hillingdon, Hounslow, Sutton, Croydon and Greenwich.

Borough Daily SHL allocation* Date**
Camden Unlimited August 2019
City of Westminster Unlimited August 2019
Haringey 21 August 2019
Richmond 24 September 2019
Lambeth 24 July 2019
Southwark 24 July 2019
*The maximum number of kits per day that is given via the SHL website to residents in the relevant Borough.
**Date the Borough allocation was obtained.

There are no plans to write to anymore Boroughs but, from the six results we have, it does seems like a postcode lottery with residents in Haringey having the worst service.

If you are unhappy with SHL in your Borough then you should contact the Department that co-ordinates sexual health.
